Eat cucumbers with a bit of salt and lime juice when you’re craving a crunchy snack (replace your fatty chips with this fruit!)
Make your own salad dressing using olive oil and vinegar, some salt and pepper. You can add oregano and garlic salt to give it more flavor. Ready-made dressings have more calories and are not as healthy.
If you are eating because you’re bored it’s not a good sign. Realize that you’re not eating because you’re hungry. Do something else. Clean your room. Work out. Read a book. Call a friend. Draw.
if you’re the one who buys the groceries, go shopping when you’re not hungry. When you go shopping hungry you tend to buy more things, AND usually these are unhealthy or fattening things. Once these things are in your house, you’ll either waste or consume them.

Remember that the body bounces back after losing weight as a defense mechanism (it’s not natural to lose weight, think about it in terms of survival) - so don’t get frustrated by this. It’s not the number on the scale that matters, but how you feel.
Don’t make unattainable goals.
Don’t weight yourself every week or everyday. Measure your waist or your hips with a metric tape.
After spending 30 minutes on the computer get up and do 10 jumping jacks, 20 sit-ups, 25 squats, and 5 push ups. Do it every 30 minutes: if you can sit at the computer for hours, you can take a few minutes to treat your body nicely.
Start by running once a week. Then do it twice a week. Then three times. Then four. Eventually you’ll want to do it everyday.

If you want to lose weight do it to be healthy, not to be skinny. Think of long-term consequences not the short term losses.
You can treat yourself to somethiing tasty once in a while; when you forbid yourself pleasures you may resent your own diet! — A piece of chocolate cake is ok. Especially after you’ve built some muscle, but be careful!

Find role models that fit your body type and ethnicity (if you’re a 5’4” black girl with wide hips, you’ll torture yourself by trying or wishing to be keira kneightly)
